Rep. Craig Williams has announced that several public safety and infrastructure projects in Delaware and Chester Counties have received funding through the Local Share Account grant program. The grants, issued by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, aim to support initiatives that enhance public spaces, preserve historical sites, and improve environmental infrastructure.
“These projects reflect a shared commitment to preserving our local heritage, protecting the environment and providing our communities with the infrastructure they need to thrive,” said Williams. “I’m proud to see state support in the preservation and utilization of open space in our community. And I am very grateful to see another investment in the safety infrastructure for Cheney University, and I will be fighting for more funding for upgrades to our local historic university.”
Chadds Ford Township was awarded $200,000 for purchasing and conserving a 15-acre parcel that includes the historic Joseph Davis House and a barn once used by artist N.C. Wyeth. The North American Land Trust will manage this land for public recreation and education.
Chester Heights Borough received $260,000 to acquire 40 acres of undeveloped land for public recreation as its population has grown significantly since 1970.
Concord Township will get $300,000 for upgrades at its Central Sewage Treatment Plant. These improvements include adding a protective cover on the post-aeration tank to prevent algae blooms and improve water quality.
Chester County was awarded $667,080 to install 19 digital heritage tourism kiosks throughout the county. These kiosks aim to provide visitors with virtual exploration options while offering directions and information about local historical sites.
