Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, who represents Pennsylvania’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, shared a series of posts on her social media account between November 14 and 15, 2025, addressing issues ranging from affordable housing to child welfare and criminal justice.

On November 14, Scanlon highlighted her involvement in a local housing initiative: “I was proud to participate in the groundbreaking for Grace Manor in Chester after securing $1 million in Community Project Funding to support the project. While affordable housing is on the chopping block under the Trump Administration, we need more of these direct community”. This post referenced her efforts to secure federal funding for affordable housing projects and expressed concern about potential policy changes affecting such initiatives.

Later that day, she commented on food security issues with a pointed question: “How heartless do you have to be to take food from the mouths of children?”.

On November 15, Scanlon addressed criminal justice matters by referencing a case involving child sex trafficking: “She went to prison for child sex trafficking. Why wouldn’t he rule out a pardon?”.

Mary Gay Scanlon has served as a member of Congress since 2018, succeeding Pat Meehan. She was born in Watertown, New York in 1959 and currently resides in Swarthmore. Scanlon holds degrees from Colgate University (BA) and the University of Pennsylvania (JD).
