Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, who represents Pennsylvania’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on her official social media account addressing educational access and recent developments at the Supreme Court.

On April 2, 2026, Scanlon shared details about a meeting with academic leaders: “I met with Swarthmore College’s Latin American/Latinx Studies program and NYU professor, Dr. Rodriguez, to discuss her recent book and research demonstrating the overwhelming civic, economic, and developmental importance of ensuring that all children in America have access to https://t.co/0cLVpfjlpv”.

Later that day, she commented on Supreme Court proceedings involving the White House: “SCOTUS was justifiably skeptical of the White House’s effort to rewrite the US Constitution and our nation’s history. https://t.co/cB4A8qtXoy”.

In a post dated April 3, 2026, Scanlon addressed election policy issues: “We will oppose this administration’s unconstitutional attempts to federalize our elections and commit mass voter suppression at every step of the way. Scanlon has served in Congress since 2018 after replacing Pat Meehan as representative for Pennsylvania’s 5th District. She was born in Watertown, New York in 1959 and currently resides in Swarthmore. Her educational background includes a BA from Colgate University (1980) and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania (1984).
