Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, representing Pennsylvania’s 5th District since 2018, has recently made a series of statements via social media. Known for her advocacy and legislative work, Scanlon has highlighted various issues through her posts.

On March 21, 2025, Congresswoman Scanlon shared her involvement in assisting the families of World War II veterans Frank X. Hagan Jr. and Anthony C. DiDio in obtaining their service medals. She expressed gratitude for presenting these medals to the families and listening to stories about their service. “When the families of World War II veterans Frank X. Hagan Jr. and Anthony C. DiDio reached out for help in obtaining their fathers’ service medals, my office jumped on it. I was grateful to have the honor of presenting the medals to their families and hearing about their service.”

Later that day, she voiced strong opposition against what she described as unlawful firings within certain government agencies, urging legal action to address this issue. “Every member of Congress should condemn these unlawful firings, and I strongly encourage the legal action to reverse this power grab.”

In another post from March 21, Scanlon criticized the current administration’s efforts to eliminate oversight bodies such as the FTC and CFPB, arguing that these actions serve corporate interests at the expense of consumers and workers. “This administration’s illegal efforts to eliminate watchdogs and reshape agencies, like the FTC and CFPB, that protect American consumers only benefits big businesses, allowing the president’s billionaire buddies to line their pockets at the expense of consumers and workers.”
