Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, who represents Pennsylvania’s 5th district in the U.S. House of Representatives, recently addressed a range of policy issues and legislative disputes through a series of posts on her official Twitter account.

On March 11, 2026, Scanlon thanked attendees at a local event, stating: “Thank you to everyone who attended our Lima Estates town hall! I appreciated the opportunity to discuss constituent concerns about the status of the war in Iran, voting and disability rights, and excesses in immigration enforcement. Later that day, she commented on legislative gridlock involving funding for federal agencies. On March 12, 2026, she wrote: “We have the same bill tee-ed up in the House.

@HouseGOP & @SenateGOP are blocking funding for TSA, FEMA, and local first responders because they refuse to rein in ICE’s lawless actions and violence terrorizing American communities. https://t.co/LsxySN7X2N“.

In another post on March 12, Scanlon criticized Congressional Republicans over healthcare policy and military spending: “Republicans in Congress and the White House refused to extend the ACA tax credits and save healthcare for millions of Americans, but they’re willing to shovel out BILLIONS for a war in Iran that NOBODY asked for.

Scanlon has served as a member of Congress since 2018 after replacing Pat Meehan. She was born in Watertown, New York in 1959 and currently resides in Swarthmore. Scanlon holds degrees from Colgate University (BA) and the University of Pennsylvania (JD).
