Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, who has represented Pennsylvania’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress since 2018, posted a series of critical statements on her social media account on January 9, 2026.

In her first post, Scanlon wrote: “Americans were promised a ‘golden age.’ Instead, this administration’s disastrous policies are creating the worst job market for young people since the pandemic.” (January 9, 2026).

Later that day, she added: “Really going after the worst of the worst…” (January 9, 2026).

In a third post, Scanlon stated: “Not mentioned: protecting the American people.” (January 9, 2026).

Scanlon is currently serving as a member of Congress for Pennsylvania’s 5th district. She assumed office in 2018 after replacing Pat Meehan. Born in Watertown, New York in 1959 and currently residing in Swarthmore, Scanlon holds a BA from Colgate University and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania.
