Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, representing Pennsylvania’s 5th district, has recently shared her views on various pressing issues through a series of tweets. Serving in Congress since 2018, Scanlon has voiced concerns over social programs and policies affecting education and disability rights.

On March 20, 2025, Scanlon expressed her support for the Justice for the Hungry campaign, an initiative aimed at combating food insecurity. She stated: “While essential programs like SNAP and Medicaid are under attack, I was thrilled to join @Philabundance and members of the legal community to kick off the Justice for the Hungry campaign to fight food insecurity in our communities.”

Later that day, she criticized President Trump’s Executive Order regarding the Department of Education. In her tweet from March 20, 2025, she said: “President Trump’s Executive Order to dismantle the Department of Education will put our children’s schools at risk, disrupting funding for special education and low income students, and making college more expensive. We must reject this administration’s attacks on public.”

The following day on March 21, 2025, Scanlon addressed changes proposed by the Justice Department concerning ADA guidelines. She remarked: “Orwellian double-speak from the Justice Department, claiming that gutting enforcement of ADA guidelines for people with disabilities will lower the cost of living – unless, of course, you are disabled!”
