Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, who represents Pennsylvania’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on November 13 and 14 addressing recent legislative actions and transparency issues.

On November 13, Scanlon criticized Republican lawmakers for their handling of a bill, writing: “Republicans had the chance to remove the Senate kickbacks from the bill yesterday, but chose not to. The Senate can ignore @HouseGOP’s bill.” On November 14, she questioned why certain files have not been released if claims about them being a “hoax” are true: “If it is a ‘hoax,’ why wouldn’t he release the files to prove it?” Later that same day, she added: “Now do the rest.”

Mary Gay Scanlon has served as a member of Congress since 2018 after replacing Pat Meehan. She was born in Watertown, New York in 1959 and currently resides in Swarthmore at age 63. Scanlon holds degrees from Colgate University and earned her JD from the University of Pennsylvania.
