Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, who represents Pennsylvania’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, has posted a series of tweets criticizing House Republicans’ recent actions and renewing calls for the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein.

On July 23, 2025, Scanlon addressed Speaker Johnson on social media, questioning his motives: “.@SpeakerJohnson is this why you want House Republicans to leave town? #ReleasetheEpsteinFiles https://t.co/1ZPcpQmVVm”.

Later that day, she commented on Republican legislative priorities regarding healthcare and tax policy: “House Republicans voted to gut Medicaid that children with disabilities rely on to stay alive. They were willing to increase the deficit to give Billionaires a Tax Cut, but chose to cut access to life-saving Healthcare for the most vulnerable people in America.”.

The following day, Scanlon reiterated her demand for transparency concerning Epstein-related files: “#ReleaseTheEpsteinFiles https://t.co/GLja5FZj7V https://t.co/GCdWKR0vgx”.

Mary Gay Scanlon has served in Congress since 2018 after replacing Pat Meehan. She was born in Watertown, New York in 1959 and currently resides in Swarthmore. Scanlon holds a BA from Colgate University (1980) and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania (1984).
