Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, who has represented Pennsylvania’s 5th District in the U.S. Congress since 2018, addressed several legislative concerns in a series of tweets on July 15, 2025.
In a post published at 18:18 UTC, Scanlon warned about potential consequences if certain bills were enacted. She stated, “If these bills become law, we can predict many more crypto scandals and crises and money laundering, a lot of people will lose a lot of money, and no one will face accountability for taking advantage of retail investors.”
At 18:28 UTC on the same day, Scanlon commented on the issue of transparency regarding undisclosed files. She wrote, “If they exist, the American people deserve to know what’s in them. House Republicans voted to prevent their release. #ReleaseEpsteinFiles”
One minute later, at 18:29 UTC, she further criticized members of Congress for their stance on this matter by stating that “Almost every House Republican voted against even debating releasing the Epstein Files.”
Mary Gay Scanlon was born in Watertown, New York in 1959 and currently resides in Swarthmore. She holds a BA from Colgate University (1980) and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania (1984). Scanlon replaced former U.S. Congress member Pat Meehan when she assumed office.
