Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, who represents Pennsylvania’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on August 1, 2025, criticizing former President Donald Trump’s administration on issues ranging from climate policy to economic transparency and trade.

In her first post of the day, Scanlon urged action on environmental issues, writing, “Tell the Trump administration to save our climate here: https://t.co/U6hGost9C6” (August 1, 2025).

Later that afternoon, she addressed concerns about political funding and transparency: “Elected Officials are supposed to work for the American People – not Billionaires & Big Business.

Trump’s Inaugural Fund has failed to disclose all of the $ it received from big donors.

Americans deserve to know how much money politicians are receiving from corporations. https://t.co/sBzFfTDdad” (August 1, 2025).

That evening, Scanlon commented on economic policy and trade: “Firing the messenger won’t change the facts – Trump’s tariff wars are stifling our economy. https://t.co/OywFLXfTgH” (August 1, 2025).

Mary Gay Scanlon has served as a member of Congress since 2018 after succeeding Pat Meehan. She was born in Watertown, New York in 1959 and currently resides in Swarthmore. Scanlon holds a BA from Colgate University and a JD from the University of Pennsylvania.
