Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, who represents Pennsylvania’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, has used her social media platform to criticize recent actions by the Trump administration and its impact on American healthcare.

On September 3, 2025, Scanlon posted: “The Trump administration’s LOSING streak continues. Courts agree that these were ILLEGAL power grabs:

– Sending troops to LA
– Starting a Tariff War without justification or Congressional consent
– Deporting children in violation of human rights laws
– Claiming an Invasion to”.

Later that evening, she shared another message with a link: ” https://t.co/LTEuQDOKeg” on September 3, 2025.

The following day, Scanlon commented on the administration’s healthcare policies: “This Administration is stripping away Healthcare from Millions of Americans. They don’t give a damn that hospitals across this country will close and that American families will get sicker. https://t.co/2Bk70R4ASi” on September 4, 2025.

Scanlon has served as a member of Congress since replacing Pat Meehan in 2018 and is known for her advocacy on issues affecting her constituents in Pennsylvania’s 5th District. She was born in Watertown, New York in 1959 and currently resides in Swarthmore. Scanlon graduated from Colgate University with a BA in 1980 and earned her JD from the University of Pennsylvania in 1984.
