Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, who represents Pennsylvania’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of tweets expressing concern over recent economic policies and their impact on Americans.
On November 5, 2025, Scanlon criticized a political figure for statements about food insecurity, writing: “He’s bragging about making Americans go hungry.”
Later that day, she addressed the issue of tariffs imposed by former President Donald Trump, stating: “Trump’s tariffs are making everything too unaffordable. If the Supreme Court doesn’t strike them down, the House should be come back to work and vote against these tariff bills.” In a subsequent post at 21:50 UTC on the same day, Scanlon added: “Right…”
Scanlon has served in Congress since 2018 after replacing Pat Meehan as representative of Pennsylvania’s 5th district. Born in Watertown, New York in 1959 and currently residing in Swarthmore, she holds degrees from Colgate University and the University of Pennsylvania.
