Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, who represents Pennsylvania’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates and commentary on her official Twitter account regarding a range of local and national issues.
On August 5, 2025, Scanlon commented on ongoing discussions about government transparency by posting: “What he’s not doing up there: Releasing the Epstein Files.”
Later that same day, she reported on her community outreach efforts in Norristown, stating: “I kicked off my first Coffee with Your Congresswoman in Norristown last night! Thanks to everyone who came. We heard particular concerns about recent raids by masked ICE agents at local workplaces and the fear and anger that are being instilled across the community.”
On August 6, 2025, Scanlon highlighted her involvement with Philabundance Community Kitchen, noting: “My team and I packed over 1100 meals with @Philabundance Community Kitchen, which offers culinary arts and life skills training to SNAP-eligible students to prepare them to work in the food service industry. Their mission to end hunger is all the more critical now with federal”
Scanlon has represented Pennsylvania’s 5th District since replacing Pat Meehan in 2018. She was born in Watertown, New York in 1959 and currently resides in Swarthmore. Scanlon graduated from Colgate University in 1980 and later earned a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
