Constituents in Pennsylvania’s 5th congressional district have raised concerns about rising health insurance premiums, according to a series of posts by Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon. Scanlon, who has represented the district since 2018, highlighted these issues in several tweets published on October 9 and 10, 2025.
On October 9, Scanlon wrote, “Constituents across PA-05 have been telling me they’ve received notices of their health insurance premiums going WAY UP. If this has happened to you, help me fight for your healthcare by sharing your story here: https://t.co/PFPJ5uSIPQ https://t.co/MvYjfpcTNR”.
The following day, she commented on legislative efforts related to healthcare access and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits. On October 10, she posted, “Are you sure it’s not the discharge petition to release the Epstein Files getting enough votes to go to the floor? Congress could SAVE Healthcare for MILLIONS of Americans across the country, if the Speaker brings the House BACK into session and extends the ACA Tax Credits. https://t.co/Ae5echaB1X”.
Later that same day, Scanlon directed her followers to additional data regarding local impacts. She stated, “If you want to see how the Republican’s healthcare crisis is impacting our community, here’s the data: https://t.co/W61Ou3bJ9x”.
Mary Gay Scanlon has served as U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s 5th District since succeeding Pat Meehan in 2018. Born in Watertown, New York in 1959, Scanlon currently resides in Swarthmore and holds degrees from Colgate University and the University of Pennsylvania.
