Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, who represents Pennsylvania’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared a series of posts on social media addressing immigration, campaign finance reform, and economic policy.

On February 25, 2026, Scanlon posted about her participation in an interfaith advocacy event: “I was honored to address Faithful Resistance: A Public Witness for Immigrant Justice, an interfaith and ecumenical gathering of over 1,200 leaders who united for a day of worship and peaceful advocacy at the Capitol to call upon this administration for humane treatment of https://t.co/jkhknLauHG”.

Later that day, she commented on election funding and proposed constitutional reforms: “People should decide our elections, NOT billionaires and corporations. We need to pass my Democracy for All Amendment to the Constitution to overturn Citizens United and prevent large corporations and billionaires from buying our elections with dark money.  #EndCitizensUnited” (February 25, 2026).

Scanlon also addressed concerns over economic issues in another post: “Americans want to be able to afford healthcare, groceries, and a better life for their kids. The President’s illegal tariff policy and billionaire tax cuts work against a promising future for American families. https://t.co/lHmM9keY6O” (February 25, 2026).

Mary Gay Scanlon has served as a member of Congress since replacing Pat Meehan in 2018. She was born in Watertown, New York in 1959 and currently resides in Swarthmore at age 63. Scanlon holds degrees from Colgate University (BA) and the University of Pennsylvania (JD), completing her law degree in 1984.
