Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, who represents Pennsylvania’s 5th district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on her recent activities and political views through a series of posts on March 13, 2026.

In one post, Scanlon described her visit to local businesses and a theater renovation project: “Main streets are the core of our economy. I toured small businesses in Wayne and the Anthony Wayne Theatre renovation project with state and local officials to learn more about the challenges they are facing in the current economic environment.” (March 13, 2026).

Later that day, she highlighted her meeting with a nonprofit organization: “I met with Well Rooted PA, a nonprofit that provides services to meet the needs of foster families and children in PA-05, and learned about its holistic approach and range of services, including housing assistance, mental health resources, transportation, and more. As co-chair of” (March 13, 2026).

Scanlon also commented on national politics regarding control of government branches: “Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House. They shut down DHS because they refuse to rein in ICE.” (March 13, 2026).

Mary Gay Scanlon has served as U.S. Representative for Pennsylvania’s 5th District since replacing Pat Meehan in 2018. She was born in Watertown, New York in 1959 and currently resides in Swarthmore at age 63. Scanlon graduated from Colgate University with a BA in 1980 before earning her JD from the University of Pennsylvania in 1984.
