Chester Community CS recently issued the following announcement.

On Thursday, July 15, two retired Philadelphia Flyers players ran drill sessions with students at the “Summer to Discover” camp at Chester Community Charter School (CCCS) in Chester, PA.

Flyers alumni Brad Marsh and Bob Kelly taught students how to hold a hockey stick, how to shoot the puck, and how to maneuver it around traffic cones. The duo also asked Flyers and hockey-related trivia questions to the students with Flyers bobbleheads as prizes.

The Flyers-led drill sessions are part of CCCS’s “Summer to Discover” camp that serves over 900 students from Delaware and Philadelphia counties. Other activities include a basketball camp run by CCCS graduate and current Portland Trail Blazer Rondae Hollis Jefferson’s CHAP organization, a music production and entrepreneurship program run by Jahlil Beats and Tandem Entertainment Group and a health and wellness program run by Dr. Oz’s foundation, HealthCorps.

The camp is free for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. Transportation, breakfast and lunch are provided for all campers.
