Scanlon, who replaced Pat Meehan in Congress, took to social media to express her concerns about the Republican party’s budgetary decisions.
On May 14, 2025, Scanlon highlighted the issue of potential Medicaid cuts by Republicans. She stated that “For weeks, Republicans denied that they would have to make drastic cuts to Medicaid to meet their reconciliation goals. Today, they finally had to show their hand.“
The following day, May 15, she elaborated on the impact of these budgetary changes. She tweeted that “Hundreds of thousands of Pennsylvanians are at risk of losing their health insurance after US House Republicans passed a budget bill out of committee that cuts Medicaid funding by $715 billion in order to pay for President Donald Trump’s tax cuts that primarily benefit“
