State Representative Craig Williams announced the reopening of the Smithbridge Road bridge in Delaware County. The bridge, closed since July 2023 due to critical deterioration, is a key connection for residents traveling to Route 202 and nearby schools.

Williams worked with PennDOT to expedite permits and improvements, resulting in the bridge opening one day ahead of schedule. “Most watching our social media updates or reading our weekly email updates do not know how much coordination was happening in the background or how hard our contractors worked through difficult weather this winter,” Williams stated. He thanked RoadCon Inc., its subcontractors, and PennDOT for their efforts.

The construction faced challenges from heavy rainfall, causing a 16-day delay. Williams acknowledged several individuals and companies involved, including PennDOT’s Harold Windisch and Road-Con Inc.’s Al Hoffman.

The reopening is expected to enhance access to services and strengthen community ties. Remarks at the ceremony were given by Williams, State Senator John Kane, Concord Township Council President Dominic Pileggi, and Road-Con Inc. President Al Hoffman.
