Garnet Valley High School issued the following announcement on Mar. 24.

Dear School Community,

Today, one of our school buses caught fire while it was receiving repairs to its electrical system at our maintenance garage. The bus maintenance garage is located behind the high school. Since the bus was proactively identified as needing repair, there were no students or drivers on board.

Due to the proximity of the garage to the high school, the building administration relocated affected “B” wing classrooms as a precautionary measure.

The Concord Fire Department responded extremely quickly and extinguished the fire. Thanks and appreciation goes to our students, teachers, administrators and fire department for their efforts in handling this issue quickly and safely.

Sincerely,

Dr. Marc Bertrando, Superintendent
