  • As you are aware, your child has been participating in the Reading Counts software program during the 2021-2022 academic year.  This program has significantly increased the number of books our students are independently reading and dramatically improved their reading comprehension skills.  During the school year, teachers are able to review student data and conference with students to discuss their individual progress and needs.

We realize what a benefit this program has been for our students and are pleased to inform you that the program will be available during the summer months.  Students will be able to visit the elementary and middle school libraries within the district to check out books and independently take quizzes on the books they have read.  Progress will be tracked and reported to teachers in September.

Recognition for summer reading will take place when the students return to school, and will count towards individual or building reading totals for the 2022-2023 school year for all quizzes taken after July 6th,  2022.

Additionally, Penn-Delco is providing students the ability to access our IXL adaptive learning software throughout the summer for free for all students. Students’ progress on this software throughout the summer will be recognized this upcoming fall when students return to school with special prizes for participants who log a significant amount of time utilizing the software. Students are welcome to utilize school computers at our elementary and middle school libraries for IXL during the hours and days listed below or at home on personal devices at any time.

Students must be accompanied by an adult.
