Dear School Community,
Since 2013, Garnet Valley School District has participated in the Pennsylvania Youth Survey (PAYS Survey). Given every two years to our 6th, 8th, 10th, and 12th grade students, the survey data provides us with critical information concerning our students’ behavior, attitudes, and knowledge concerning violence, alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
Inspired by the PAYS data, Garnet Valley Community that Cares (GVCTC) created the New Realities of Parenting program. This program is designed to heighten awareness for issues facing our GVSD children.
This year’s program will be held at Garnet Valley Middle School on November 3rd, at 7pm. This unique opportunity is available to all K-12 parents to learn, share, and support each other as a community CLICK HERE to register now.
Some of the breakout sessions that we will host include:
- Trauma Informed Mental Health–Kristin Smeins
- Partners in Social and Emotional Learning: Families, Schools and Communities –Cathy Mink
- What your children don't want you to know about social media–Joanmarie Curtis
- Incorporating Mindfulness Into Family Routine and Self Care–Kevin Finan
- What to Know Today: Drugs and Alcohol–Michael Blanche
- School Safety–Tony Sivo
We hope you will join us!!!
Sincerely,
Dr. Marc Bertrando, Superintendent
