Joe Klecko born in Chester, Pennsylvania on October 15, 1953

Joseph Klecko was born on October 15, 1953, in Chester, Pennsylvania. He played high school football at St. James Catholic High School in Chester. After working and playing semi-pro football, he earned a scholarship to Temple University, where he led the team in tackles for three seasons. Klecko joined the NFL in 1977, drafted by the New York Jets. He became known for his role in the “New York Sack Exchange” and played at three defensive positions, earning Pro Bowl selections at each. In 1981, he led the league in sacks. He retired in 1988 after a season with the Indianapolis Colts. In 2023, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Klecko’s early years in Chester helped shape his path to a successful NFL career.
