Garnet Valley High School recently issued the following announcement.
Dear School Community,
I wanted to send a reminder that next week is National School Safety Week. In conjunction with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania State Police, students and families may see an increased presence of Pennsylvania State Troopers as they patrol bus stops and ride on buses. We are fortunate in Garnet Valley to have a great relationship with the Pennsylvania State Police, just as we are blessed with a team of skilled drivers–a combination that ensures the safe travel of our students to and from school.
It is our goal to carry out school bus safety measures for more than just one week in October. With the cooperation of the State Police we will be enhancing patrols and safety enforcement efforts throughout the school year. In addition to our law enforcement presence, we will be engaging our community on social media with great tips, reminders, and opening the door for suggestions from you. Combining the efforts listed above and the efforts of you, our Garnet Valley community members, we can create a safe and supportive transportation model that will protect the welfare of our students and our Garnet Valley neighborhood.
Let’s take advantage of this opportunity to remember that our students are at the heart of this campaign, and if we work together to recognize areas of improvement, we can fortify a safe school transportation system for our families and children in the Garnet Valley community area.
Sincerely,
Dr. Marc Bertrando, Superintendent
