Media-Providence Friends School recently issued the following announcement.
Friends,
Yesterday the Commonwealth Court voided the state of PA's school mask mandate because the Health Secretary lacked the authority to enact it. An appeal was filed soon thereafter and so the mask mandate does remain in effect until the appeal has a ruling. While it is unclear what this will mean for school districts if the appeal is unsuccessful, I want to get ahead of this before it causes any confusion for our community.
If you recall, we notified families that masks would be required indoors before the state of PA made it a mandate. Regardless of whether or not it remains a state mandate, it will continue to be required here at MPFS while indoors. The lack of a state mandate has no bearing on our ability as an independent school to require masks. Thank you as always for your continued cooperation. It is that very cooperation that has allowed us to stay open and in person since October of 2020.
