Chester Community CS issued the following announcement on Jan. 4.
Dear CCCS Families:
The new year is continuing to throw up obstacles for our return to the classroom. Beginning tomorrow, Wednesday, January 5th, and through the end of this week, all middle school classes will be conducted virtually. That means students should NOT report to the Aston Campus for the remainder of the week and all classes in grades 6 through 8 will be conducted virtually. This is due to a large number of teachers and staff who are under quarantine for COVID-19.
We are still confident that we can safely conduct in-person instruction for students in kindergarten through 5th grade. An important element to keeping students safe is having potentially infected students not report to school for in-person learning. If your student has been exposed or infected, please follow the attached CDC guidelines before returning them to school. Any student exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 should NOT be sent to school.
To reiterate, here are the important details:
- Students in grades 6 through 8 will be learning virtually for the remainder of this week.
- No students should report to the Aston Campus.
- Some individual classrooms in kindergarten through 5th grade may be required to move to virtual instruction and will be contacted directly by their teachers.
- Any student who has been exposed or is currently infected or exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms must remain at home (see attached CDC guidance for additional information).
- Any family wishing to move a student from in-person to virtual learning may do so by completing the virtual learning registration form on the CCCS website.
- Our target reopening date for the Aston Campus is Monday, January 10th.
I am sorry that current circumstances are causing frequent changes to CCCS operations. I want to assure you, we are not alone. Everything we are doing is in the interest of keeping our community as safe as possible while offering the best possible instruction. Please continue to monitor the CCCS website for updates.
Sincerely,
Dr. David E. Clark, Jr
CEO, Chester Community Charter School
