A Letter From our Director of Food Services Regarding P-EBT

Greetings CCCS Families,

I know that many of you still have questions and concerns about the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer, also known as P-EBT. Please see below as I hope to clarify some of the more commonly asked questions.

Who receives the 2021-2022 benefit?

When the benefit was first announced in the spring of 2022, recipients for 2021-2022 had to have 5 or more consecutive, excused absences. These children would only be given monies for the days that they were out. This list was sent to the state for processing in early June 2022.

What about Virtual Students?

Originally virtual students were not included as students eligible for P-EBT. However, this changed in late August 2022. Virtual students were sent in for processing in mid- September 2022.

Does the benefit come directly from the school?

No. P-EBT comes from a special department of Human Services, also known as DHS.

What role does CCCS play when it comes to receiving P-EBT?

CCCS will ONLY verify the child’s contact information and submit the number of eligible days that the student will receive benefits for.

How much P-EBT will be issued?

Each child will receive $7.10 for each day they are eligible.

When will I receive my P-EBT benefits?

Because the P-EBT program is statewide and hundreds of benefits are still being processed daily, it can take months to receive the benefits. On a positive note though, many families who were originally submitted in June have already began receiving their monies.

What if I have additional questions?

You are always more than welcome to reach out to the school but please be aware that we are limited to the following information/services:

  • Verifying personal information on file at the school.
  • Updating the personal information being sent to the state.
  • Confirming the number of days for which your child(ren) will receive P-EBT.

Outside of this, families can find out more information by going to www.dhs.pa.gov and searching “P- EBT”. If you have questions for the school, you can contact me directly at (610) 447-0400, extension 1271 or at vyoung@chestercommunitycharter.org.

I look forward to serving you soon,

Veronique Young
