Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, representing Pennsylvania's 5th district, shared her thoughts on social media regarding a recent joint address by the President. Scanlon, who has been serving in Congress since 2018, expressed her views on the President's speech and its implications for the American public.

On March 5, 2025, Scanlon posted about her experience at the joint address. She stated that she attended with the intention of staying for the entire speech out of respect for the nation. However, she noted that after an hour of what she described as "rambling," "the President's remarks became increasingly untruthful and disrespectful to both members of Congress and the American people."

Later that day, Scanlon commented on economic issues affecting Americans. She attributed rising living costs and a declining stock market to former President Donald Trump's policies. In her post dated March 5, 2025, she criticized Trump for spending minimal time addressing these concerns during his lengthy speech: "The cost of living is spiking and the stock market is tanking because of Donald Trump’s policies."

In another post from March 5, 2025, Scanlon announced an upcoming live conversation where constituents could join via phone call. She invited participation with a simple message: "We'll be live in 5 minutes! Dial 855-731-4616 to join the conversation "
