Congresswoman Mary Gay Scanlon, representing Pennsylvania’s 5th district, recently shared several views and activities through social media posts highlighting key issues and events. Scanlon, who has been in office since her replacement of Pat Meehan in 2018, engaged in topics ranging from national security to honoring veterans.

On March 29, 2025, Scanlon addressed what she describes as a significant intelligence failure caused by the Trump administration. In her post, she stated, "Signalgate leak reveals a worse intelligence disaster than most Americans realize - President Donald Trump's ill-qualified picks are undermining intelligence operations and exposing the U.S. to security threats."

In a tweet on March 31, 2025, Scanlon took the opportunity to honor Vietnam War veterans in her district. She expressed her pride, saying, "I was proud to honor PA-05 Vietnam War veterans and their families for their valor, services, and sacrifices on behalf of the country with a commemorative pinning ceremony."

On April 1, 2025, Scanlon voiced concerns over the Trump administration's social security policies. She convened community leaders to address these issues and wrote, "Yesterday, I convened community leaders and advocacy groups to call out the Trump administration's attempts to dismantle Social Security. This is YOUR hard-earned money, and it's time to tell President Trump and Elon Musk: Hands off Social Security!"
